Grand Rapids, Michigan – Drivers in western Michigan are dealing with slick roads early Saturday as light snow continues to fall across lakeshore communities before tapering off around daybreak.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until early Saturday morning for Mason and Oceana counties. Additional snowfall up to one inch is expected, with the highest chances for accumulation focused in western portions of the counties closer to Lake Michigan.
In Ludington, Hart, and surrounding areas, untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses may become slippery during the early morning commute. Snowfall rates are expected to remain light, but cold pavement temperatures will allow snow to stick quickly, especially on secondary roads and residential streets.
Motorists traveling along U.S. 10, U.S. 31, and nearby county roads should use caution, slow down, and allow extra stopping distance. Even brief bursts of snow could reduce visibility near the lakeshore before conditions improve later in the morning.
Snow is expected to wind down shortly after sunrise as the system exits the area. While conditions should gradually improve through the morning, lingering slick spots may remain on shaded or untreated surfaces. No additional advisories are currently in place, though drivers are urged to remain alert until roads fully improve.
