Cincinnati, Ohio – A major winter storm is set to impact a large portion of the Ohio Valley starting Saturday morning, bringing heavy snow that could make travel extremely difficult and disrupt the Monday morning commute across Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from mid-morning Saturday through Monday midday. Most of the region, including Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Springfield, Hamilton, Middletown, and Wilmington, is expected to receive between 8 and 12 inches of snow by the time the storm ends. Farther north and west, including Mercer, Auglaize, Darke, and Shelby counties, totals may range from 6 to 10 inches.

In northern Kentucky, including Covington, Florence, Maysville, and Vanceburg, heavy snow will be accompanied by a light glaze of ice, further increasing the risk of slick roads. Southeast Indiana communities such as Richmond, Connersville, Batesville, and Vevay will also see prolonged periods of steady snowfall.

Road conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly on major corridors including I-70, I-71, I-74, I-75, I-275, and I-71/75 through Cincinnati, especially during heavier snowfall rates. Officials urge residents to delay non-essential travel and prepare for snow-covered roads lasting into Monday.

Snow is expected to continue through Sunday night before tapering Monday morning. Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect through midday Monday, and additional updates may be issued as conditions evolve.
