Indianapolis, Indiana – A major winter storm is expected to impact large portions of Indiana and Ohio beginning Saturday night, bringing heavy snow, hazardous travel conditions, and dangerously cold temperatures that could persist through Monday and into early Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will overspread Indiana late Saturday evening before expanding east into Ohio overnight. Periods of heavy snow are expected through Sunday and Sunday night, with additional accumulation possible into Monday morning. The most significant impacts are expected along major travel corridors including Interstate 70, Interstate 71, Interstate 75, and Interstate 80. Gusty winds may also lead to blowing and drifting snow, particularly in open and rural locations.
Behind the storm, Arctic air will push into the region, sending temperatures well below normal. Wind chills are expected to drop into dangerous levels late Sunday night through Monday morning, increasing the risk of frostbite for anyone exposed to the cold for extended periods.
