Glasgow, Montana – Life-threatening cold continues across northeastern Montana, with dangerously low wind chills expected to persist through early Saturday morning despite slight improvement from earlier in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, wind chills are forecast to drop as low as −40°F to −48°F Saturday morning, particularly across Valley, Daniels, Sheridan, and Roosevelt counties. While winds have eased slightly and temperatures have moderated compared to Friday morning, conditions remain extremely hazardous.

Forecasters warn that hypothermia can occur in as little as 10 minutes, with frostbite possible in 30 minutes or less on exposed skin. Cold Weather Advisories and Extreme Cold Warnings remain in effect across much of the region through Saturday morning.

Daytime temperatures will remain well below freezing, though gradual warming is expected by early next week as conditions trend closer to seasonal norms. Until then, residents are urged to limit time outdoors, wear multiple layers, and ensure all exposed skin is covered.

Pet owners and ranchers are advised to provide adequate shelter, wind protection, and unfrozen water for animals. Drivers should carry winter survival kits in vehicles in case of breakdowns.

The most dangerous cold is expected around sunrise Saturday, with slow improvement later in the day.
