St. Louis, Missouri – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. Saturday through 6 p.m. Sunday for portions of northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois, where accumulating snow is expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, snowfall totals between 3 and 6 inches are expected in Monroe County, Missouri. Surrounding areas across northeast Missouri—including Knox, Lewis, Shelby, and Marion counties—and west-central Illinois counties such as Adams and Brown are forecast to receive between 2 and 5 inches of snow.

Snow is expected to begin Saturday morning and continue through Sunday evening. While snowfall rates are not expected to be extreme, the prolonged duration of the event may lead to steadily deteriorating road conditions, especially on untreated surfaces.

Forecasters warn that travel could become very difficult at times, particularly during periods of heavier snowfall and overnight hours when road temperatures are colder. Bridges and overpasses are expected to become slick first.

The advisory includes communities such as Hannibal, Quincy, Mount Sterling, and surrounding rural areas. Weekend travel and local commutes may be impacted as snow accumulates.

Residents are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling. Drivers should allow extra stopping distance and remain alert for changing road conditions.
