Sedalia, MO – Drivers across central and west central Missouri should brace for deteriorating road conditions as a potent winter storm drops up to 7 inches of snow between Friday evening and Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, a Winter Storm Warning is in place from 6 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m. Sunday, covering major population centers including Sedalia, Warrensburg, Boonville, and Marshall. Snowfall is expected to be heaviest late Friday into early Saturday, with steady accumulation through Sunday.
Travel on Highways 50, 65, and I-70 will likely be hazardous. MODOT is urging residents to avoid unnecessary driving and prepare homes and vehicles ahead of the storm. Snow-packed roads could delay school or work commutes Monday morning, particularly in Pettis, Cooper, and Saline counties.
Drivers should charge devices, check fuel levels, and pack emergency kits. Road condition updates are available via traveler.modot.org.
This storm could evolve, with updated advisories possible Saturday based on snow intensity and visibility conditions.
