LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas law enforcement agencies continue to prioritize DUI enforcement year-round, with increased efforts ahead of major weekends and large-scale events.

Because of increased traffic and a high pedestrian volume, Las Vegas is considered to have very dangerous roads. Throughout the year, local law enforcement focuses on preventing dangerous driving with regular DUI blitzes. These operations are often a success and are part of the city’s high-visibility enforcement.

During holidays and major events, these efforts are ramped up. For example, during the Christmas holiday weekend in 2025, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) issued 70 citations and made 15 arrests for driving under the influence.

This past weekend, the LVMPD, with Enterprise and Spring Valley Area Command Patrol Officers, Traffic Officers, Traffic Safety Officers, the Air Unit, Nevada State Police Troopers, and phlebotomists held another successful DUI blitz. The operation included 206 stops, 145 citations, and 19 DUI arrests.

In a press release, the LVMPD stated:

“Saturday night’s DUI Blitz was a strong team effort focused on preventing impaired driving and protecting everyone on our roads.”

Officials urge drivers to pay attention to the legal Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) limit, which is currently 0.08%, but impairment can start below that. Drivers should use public transport, designated drivers, and ride-sharing services.
