Trenton, New Jersey – A developing winter storm could bring widespread snow and hazardous travel across much of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania beginning late Saturday night, with impacts potentially lingering through Monday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from late Saturday night through Monday afternoon for large portions of central, northern, and southern New Jersey, as well as east-central and eastern Pennsylvania. Heavy snow and significant accumulations are likely, raising concerns for slick roads and major travel disruptions, especially as the storm overlaps with the Monday morning commute.
In New Jersey, areas including Sussex, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, and Warren counties are included in the watch. Cities such as Trenton, Morristown, Somerville, New Brunswick, Freehold, and Jackson could see snow-covered roads by early Sunday. Coastal sections of Ocean County, including Long Beach Island, may also experience accumulating snow.
Across Pennsylvania, Carbon, Monroe, Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Montgomery, and Bucks counties are under the watch. Allentown, Bethlehem, Reading, Pottstown, Doylestown, and Stroudsburg may see prolonged snowfall that limits visibility and makes untreated roads dangerous.
Officials urge residents to monitor updates closely, prepare for slippery travel conditions, and avoid unnecessary driving once snow begins. As confidence in snowfall amounts increases, the watch could be upgraded, with hazardous conditions potentially extending into Monday afternoon.
