Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Drivers across southern Wisconsin should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility as accumulating snow moves in tonight, followed by another round of snow showers and blowing snow Wednesday evening that could impact both commutes.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from late this evening through early Wednesday morning. Snow is expected to develop tonight, with the highest snowfall rates between late evening and early Wednesday morning. Areas along and south of Interstate 94, including Madison, Janesville, Whitewater, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha, are likely to see 2 to 5 inches of snow, while lighter totals are expected farther north.

A lull in snow is anticipated late Wednesday morning into the afternoon, but travel conditions may remain slick on untreated roads. Another system is expected to arrive Wednesday evening, bringing snow showers that could briefly fall at moderate to heavy rates. Gusty winds during this second round may lead to blowing snow and rapidly changing visibility, particularly during the evening commute.

Wind gusts could approach 30 mph in parts of southeast Wisconsin, further reducing visibility in open areas. Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and consider delaying non-essential travel during peak snowfall periods.

Additional advisories or extensions are possible as conditions evolve, and residents are encouraged to monitor updates through Wednesday night.
