Tallahassee, Florida — Another surge of cold air is expected to push back into the Deep South this weekend, bringing a renewed chance for winter weather across parts of the region, though impacts across north Florida are expected to remain limited.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, probabilities for winter weather impacts remain low across the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend, with most precipitation expected to fall as rain. Current guidance shows only a low chance, generally 20% or less, for minor winter impacts in the local forecast area.

Farther north, however, confidence remains higher for significant travel impacts across northern Alabama and northern Georgia, where colder air is more likely to support freezing rain or sleet. Residents traveling north later this weekend are urged to stay alert to changing conditions.

Forecasters say uncertainty remains regarding how far south wintry precipitation could develop and whether probabilities may expand into parts of the Southeast as the system evolves.

If winter weather does materialize locally, impacts would likely be limited to minor travel disruptions and brief inconveniences. The National Weather Service advises residents to continue monitoring forecast updates through the week as details become clearer.
