New Hampshire – Cold air stings exposed skin this morning as pale sunshine reflects off frozen ground, but winter is far from finished. Light snow develops later today and sets the stage for slick travel as a more organized system approaches this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, snow is likely tonight into Saturday across southern New Hampshire and parts of southwest Maine. Totals of 1 to 3 inches are possible Saturday, enough to create slippery roads and reduced visibility during peak travel hours.

In Manchester, snow chances increase after midday Saturday, with rain possibly mixing in briefly before colder air takes control. Temperatures hover in the mid-30s, allowing snow to accumulate on untreated roads, sidewalks, and parking lots. Drivers should plan extra time and slow down, especially on I-93, Route 101, and secondary roads.

Saturday night remains unsettled with additional rain or snow showers. By Sunday, colder air settles back in, keeping highs near the mid-30s. Lingering moisture raises the risk of refreezing after sunset. Black ice may form quickly on bridges and shaded stretches.

MLK Day looks quieter but colder. Skies turn mostly sunny, with highs near 31. Winds ease, yet cold pavement remains a concern during early morning travel. Monday night dips into the low teens, locking in a hard freeze across the region.

Meteorologists are also watching another potential snowmaker late Sunday into Monday, though confidence remains low. Even so, winter conditions persist into next week, with cold air holding firm across New England.
