Ohio – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect across large portions of north-central, northeast, and eastern Ohio, with snow and icy road conditions expected to significantly impact travel through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

The advisory includes Sandusky, Seneca, Crawford, Richland, Ashland, Wayne, Erie, Huron, Trumbull, Stark, and Mahoning counties, affecting cities such as Mansfield, Wooster, Canton, Youngstown, Sandusky, Fremont, and Tiffin.

Snowfall totals are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches across much of north-central Ohio, with 3 to 6 inches possible in Erie and Huron counties. Farther east, Mahoning, Stark, and Trumbull counties could see 3 to 5 inches of snow through Thursday evening.

Forecasters said rain will quickly change to accumulating snow this afternoon and evening as temperatures fall rapidly. This transition is expected to cause roads to become snow-covered and icy, particularly late Wednesday into early Thursday. Patchy blowing snow may further reduce visibility overnight.

The National Weather Service warned that bridges and overpasses will become especially slick, making travel hazardous during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Minimum wind chills near 0 to -5 degrees are expected late tonight into Thursday morning.

The Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission urged motorists to delay unnecessary travel and to monitor road conditions through OHGO.com. Drivers are advised to slow down, increase following distance, and use caution on sidewalks and steps where ice may form quickly.

Residents should continue to monitor official forecasts as conditions evolve overnight.
