Belmont County, OH – Four people were arrested and about 120 grams of suspected methamphetamine were seized during a drug investigation at a hotel near St. Clairsville, according to the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the Belmont County Sheriff’s Criminal Interdiction Unit, assigned to the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, launched the investigation on January 2. Authorities said the case involved surveillance, a traffic stop, and searches of both a vehicle and a hotel room.

According to Sheriff James Zusack, the investigation led to the arrest of Heather Renne Owens, 51, of Bellaire, Ohio; Shelley Brooks, 52, of Wheeling, West Virginia; Katie Lynn Kennen, 35, of Bridgeport, Ohio; and Alex Jerimiah Davis, 34, of Wheeling, West Virginia.

Owens was charged with possession of methamphetamine and obstructing official business. Brooks faces charges of possession and trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of criminal tools, and possession of drug abuse instruments. Kennen was charged with possession and trafficking in methamphetamine, tampering with evidence, and possession of drug abuse instruments. Davis was charged with possession and trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of criminal tools.

All four suspects were booked into the Belmont County Jail. The Richland Township Police Department assisted in the investigation.
