Cincinnati, Ohio – Southern Ohio is expected to see a generally quiet stretch of winter weather next week, with limited chances for snow or rain and no strong signal for widespread travel disruptions from Monday through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, southern Ohio falls within a below-normal precipitation zone during the January 12–16 period. Temperatures are forecast to trend above seasonal averages at times, reducing the likelihood of winter precipitation and supporting extended dry conditions across the Ohio River Valley.

Cities including Cincinnati, Chillicothe, Portsmouth, and Athens may see several dry days with only isolated, low-impact rain or brief flurry chances. Any precipitation that does occur is expected to be short-lived and light, with little to no accumulation. Major routes such as I-71, I-75, U.S. 23, U.S. 35, and I-275 are not expected to experience prolonged weather-related issues during this stretch.

The Ohio Department of Transportation typically reminds drivers that overnight temperature drops can still create isolated slick spots on bridges and elevated roadways, particularly near the Ohio River and in sheltered valleys. Early morning commuters should remain alert despite the quieter pattern.

The drier trend looks likely to persist through much of the workweek, though minor disturbances cannot be ruled out. Overall, widespread winter weather impacts across southern Ohio appear unlikely through Friday.
