Washington – Rain taps steadily on windshields this morning as gray water pools along curbs and tidal shorelines push higher than normal. The air feels raw and unsettled. Conditions are active, and they are changing quickly as a Weather Alert remains in effect.

According to the National Weather Service, a Coastal Flood Advisory continues through Wednesday morning for the Seattle area. Periods of steady rain today may produce a quarter to half an inch, while south winds gust up to 30 mph. High tides increase the risk of minor flooding along vulnerable coastal and low-lying areas.

Across Seattle, temperatures hover in the low 40s, climbing near the mid-40s this afternoon. Wet roads along I-5, SR-99, and neighborhood arterials may slow traffic during peak travel hours. Plan extra time and expect reduced visibility during heavier downpours.

Rain remains widespread into Wednesday, with another soaking round likely. Winds stay breezy, and puddles may deepen near storm drains. By Wednesday night, colder air filters in. Temperatures dip toward the mid-30s, and rain may briefly mix with wet snow in higher elevations and outlying hills.

Into Thursday, showers continue with a rain-and-snow mix possible early. Little accumulation is expected in the city, but slick spots could develop on bridges and shaded roads. Keep an eye out for brief travel slowdowns during the morning.

By Friday and into the weekend, conditions ease. Showers become more scattered, highs recover into the upper 40s near 50, and winds relax. Daylight continues to stretch longer through January, offering a subtle boost after a stormy start to 2026.
