Binghamton, New York – Light snow is moving through the Southern Tier and central New York this morning, bringing minor accumulations and slick travel conditions before tapering off later today as temperatures slowly moderate.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, snow began moving into the region around mid-morning and will continue through the early to mid-afternoon hours. Most communities across the Southern Tier and south-central New York are expected to see less than an inch of accumulation, while the Wyoming Valley may only pick up a light dusting.

Farther north, higher totals are expected from the northern Finger Lakes into the Mohawk Valley, where snowfall amounts could reach up to three inches. Areas including Utica, Rome, and portions of Oneida County may experience steadier snowfall through midday, potentially impacting secondary roads and untreated surfaces.

High temperatures today will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s across much of the region, making conditions less harsh than recent days but still cold enough for slippery spots to linger. Commuters should use caution on bridges, ramps, and shaded roadways during the late morning and midday hours.

Snow is expected to taper off this afternoon, with no significant impacts expected tonight. A gradual warming trend is forecast to continue through the rest of the week and into the early weekend, reducing the risk of additional winter travel issues. Further updates will be issued if conditions change.
