Herrin, IL – A routine traffic stop in Williamson County early last week led to a felony drug arrest after deputies allegedly discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted the stop around 1:07 a.m. Wednesday, December 26, near the intersection of Oak Street and 22nd Street in Herrin. The driver was identified as Kelsi N. Wingo, with passengers Lucille A. Odam and Leslie A. Williams also inside the vehicle.

During the stop, deputies reportedly observed open alcohol containers inside the vehicle. All occupants were asked to exit while deputies conducted a probable cause search, authorities said.

According to the sheriff’s office, during a subsequent search of the occupants by a female law enforcement officer, Lucille A. Odam was allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine and hypodermic syringes.

Odam was taken into custody and charged with Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine, a violation of 720 ILCS 646/60, along with possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor under 720 ILCS 600/3.5. She was transported to and remanded into the custody of the Williamson County Jail.

Additional citations were issued as a result of the stop. Leslie A. Williams was cited for illegal transportation of alcohol, while Kelsi N. Wingo was cited for failure to signal, both listed as petty offenses. Williams and Wingo were released at the scene.

Authorities said Odam was later indicted by a Williamson County Grand Jury on March 20, 2025, for a separate incident also resulting in a Class 3 felony methamphetamine charge. Her next court appearance in that case is scheduled for February 4, 2026.
