Wakefield, Virginia – Most of Virginia will see little more than clouds today as a weak low-pressure system passes south of the region, keeping meaningful rainfall confined to far southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, the best chances for rain will remain south of the Interstate 64 corridor, with total rainfall amounts expected to stay under one-tenth of an inch. Areas closer to the North Carolina border, including parts of Hampton Roads and coastal southeast Virginia, may see periods of light rain through the day, while central and northern sections of the state remain largely dry.

Farther north, especially near the Virginia–North Carolina border, a brief period of rain mixed with snow is possible. However, temperatures and limited moisture should prevent any accumulation, reducing the risk of travel impacts. Roads across most of the region are expected to remain wet at times but passable.

Winds will stay relatively light, and no flooding concerns are anticipated due to the low rainfall totals. Commuters in southeast Virginia should still allow extra stopping distance during intermittent rain, particularly on bridges and elevated roadways.

The system exits tonight, with dry and quiet weather expected to return through the start of the new week. Forecasters note that no additional advisories are anticipated, though conditions will continue to be monitored through Tuesday morning.
