Massachusetts — Crisp air bites across eastern Massachusetts this morning as clouds thicken over Boston Harbor and breath fogs in the cold. Pavement remains dry for now, but that changes quickly once snow arrives later today.

Temperatures sit near 20 degrees early, with highs struggling to reach the low 30s. According to the National Weather Service, a chance of light snow develops later today and continues into tonight. Accumulation should remain minimal, but even a dusting can create slick spots as temperatures fall.

Across Greater Boston, untreated roads, bridges, and sidewalks may turn icy this evening. Travel along I-93, Route 1, and the Mass Pike could slow as snowflakes mix with falling temperatures. Drivers should plan extra time and watch for black ice after sunset.

Sunday brings a brief reset. Clouds thin, sunshine returns, and highs hover near 31. Cold air remains locked in Sunday night, with temperatures dropping into the teens. Any leftover moisture refreezes quickly before dawn.

The next system approaches early Monday. A renewed chance of snow develops late Monday night, though widespread accumulation appears limited. Even so, timing could affect early travel into the first full workweek of 2026.

By Tuesday, temperatures begin a slow climb. Highs reach the mid-30s, followed by a transition toward rain by Tuesday night into Wednesday. That shift introduces wet roads and reduced visibility instead of snow, signaling a gradual thaw.

Winter remains firmly in control across New England, even with milder air on the horizon. Small systems and temperature swings will continue to create quick-changing conditions.
