Springfield, Missouri – A warming trend is expected to take hold this weekend, bringing well above normal temperatures into the coming work week across southwest Missouri.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, a mostly dry pattern will accompany the temperature increase, reducing the likelihood of rain through at least midweek.

Forecast graphics shared early Friday show Saturday highs ranging from 39 to 47 degrees, with overnight lows in the mid-20s. Temperatures rise further on Sunday, reaching the mid-50s during the afternoon.

By Monday, highs are expected to climb into the low to mid-60s, followed by upper 60s to near 70 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight lows also moderate, rising into the 40s by early next week.

The National Weather Service noted that these temperatures are well above normal for early January, marking a noticeable shift from recent colder conditions. No significant precipitation systems are indicated during this period, supporting the expectation of mostly dry weather.

For commuters and outdoor workers, the warming trend may improve morning and afternoon conditions, particularly after the weekend, though cooler mornings are still expected through Sunday.

Residents are encouraged to remain aware of daily temperature swings, especially during early mornings when colder lows may still pose patchy frost concerns in sheltered areas.

Additional updates will be issued if forecast conditions change.
