Temperatures climb into the mid-50s by midday, then reverse course this afternoon as colder air sweeps in behind the system. Gusty winds increase, helping roads dry briefly before temperatures fall.
By evening, readings slide below freezing. Any leftover moisture may refreeze quickly, creating black ice on untreated roads, bridges, and ramps. Drivers along I-95, I-195, and Route 6 should plan extra time and reduce speed after sunset. The risk is highest in shaded neighborhoods and less-traveled side streets.
