Pueblo, CO – A warm, dry, and breezy weather pattern will continue across southern Colorado heading into Christmas week, keeping holiday conditions far from typical for late December and limiting snow chances across most lower elevations.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a persistent west to southwest flow will keep temperatures well above normal across the plains, mountain valleys, and even parts of the higher terrain through Christmas Day. For many communities, this means no white Christmas, unless traveling into the mountains.
Forecast highs on Christmas Day are expected to reach the upper 60s to mid-70s across the eastern plains, including Pueblo, La Junta, Lamar, and Springfield. In Pueblo, highs could reach the low 70s, approaching long-standing record levels. Colorado Springs is forecast to reach the mid-to-upper 60s, also well above its seasonal average.
Mountain valleys will remain mild as well, with highs generally in the 50s, while higher elevations see temperatures in the 30s to 50s, depending on location. Snow chances remain minimal overall, though isolated snow showers are possible in the mountains, mainly Wednesday.
Meteorologists note that normal Christmas Day highs across southern Colorado are typically in the 30s and 40s, underscoring just how unusual this warm pattern is. The dry conditions will benefit holiday travel but could increase fire weather awareness, especially with periodic breezy winds.
Residents across Pueblo County, El Paso County, Otero County, Bent County, and surrounding areas are encouraged to enjoy the mild holiday weather while continuing to monitor forecasts for any late-week changes.
