Corpus Christi, TX – Cloudy skies and wet weather are expected to dominate the forecast for Corpus Christi and much of the Coastal Bend on Wednesday, with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms developing throughout the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, rain chances will be highest across eastern portions of South Texas and over the coastal waters, while inland areas could see more scattered coverage. Afternoon highs are expected to reach around 70 degrees area-wide, with light and variable winds limiting any severe weather threat.

Forecasters say periods of rain could impact travel, particularly during the morning and evening commute. While widespread flooding is not anticipated, brief downpours may lead to ponding on roads and reduced visibility in heavier showers.

Conditions are expected to change quickly heading into Thursday. The National Weather Service reports that temperatures will warm significantly ahead of a weak cold front, with highs climbing into the mid-70s to lower 80s across the region. Corpus Christi could see afternoon highs between 75 and 83 degrees before the front moves through Thursday night.

Behind the cold front, more seasonable temperatures are expected to settle in on Friday. Highs are forecast to range from the mid-60s to low 70s, with generally drier conditions anticipated to end the workweek. The warming trend is expected to resume over the weekend, with sunshine and highs returning to the upper 70s and mid-80s by Sunday and Monday.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to monitor updated forecasts, especially those with outdoor plans or marine interests. Mariners should remain alert for periods of rain and thunderstorms over the Gulf waters Wednesday.
