Chicago, IL – Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) implements a rule to shield children from deceptive marketing of alcoholic beverages resembling non-alcoholic drinks.

Larger stores must separate co-branded alcoholic drinks from child-friendly items including soft drinks, fruit juices, bottled water, candy, or snack foods. Smaller stores can follow the same rule or use signs to warn parents.

ILCC provides downloadable signs on their website.

Rule effective from May 26, 2023, until October 23, 2023. ILCC aims to make the rule permanent.

Parents urged to stay informed and cautious about misleading marketing practices concerning alcoholic drinks. Visit ILCC’s website for details.
