Buffalo, NY – The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany Counties, where snow and gusty winds will create difficult travel conditions throughout the day on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
The advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST Wednesday and covers communities including Jamestown, Olean, Wellsville, Warsaw, Orchard Park, and Springville.
Forecasters expect 4 to 8 inches of snow, with winds up to 35 mph, creating areas of blowing and drifting snow. The heaviest accumulation is expected in higher terrain across the western Southern Tier, while lower elevations near Lake Erie may see periods of rain or drizzle as temperatures rise during the day.
Travel will be most hazardous Wednesday morning, when snow is expected to fall heavily before gradually mixing with rain. By late evening, colder air will return, transitioning precipitation back to light, fluffy snow across much of the region.
Drivers are urged to allow extra time, slow down, and use caution on slick and snow-covered roads. Road condition updates are available via 511NY.gov.
