Springfield, MO – Southwest Missouri will see breezy southwesterly winds on Tuesday, with gusts reaching 20–30 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Springfield. The strongest gusts are expected along and west of Highway 65, where unsecured outdoor items and holiday decorations could be blown around. Forecasters note that smaller tree limbs may break or fall.

Temperatures will remain above average through Wednesday, with today’s highs ranging from the upper 30s to mid-40s and Tuesday pushing into the lower to upper 50s. Lows stay seasonably cool, dipping into the 20s and 30s overnight.

The weather pattern shifts late in the week as a strong cold front sweeps through Thursday night. Temperatures will fall sharply on Friday and into the weekend, with highs dropping into the 30s and wind chills expected to turn much colder.

No major precipitation accompanies the front at this time, but forecasters caution that the sudden temperature drop may be a notable change after several mild days.
