Hartford, CT – The Arctic chill that gripped the Northeast to start December isn’t leaving Connecticut anytime soon. According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s 8–14 Day Outlook, issued December 1, temperatures across the state are expected to remain below normal from December 9 through December 15.

NOAA forecasters say the cold pattern extending from Maine to Pennsylvania will keep highs in the 30s and lows near or below freezing throughout the week. Wind chills could make mornings feel even colder, particularly across Hartford, Torrington, and Danbury.

Precipitation chances are projected to be above normal, suggesting a mix of rain and snow showers, especially midweek as new storm systems move along the East Coast. New Haven and Bridgeport may see mainly rain at first, while inland towns could transition to snow as colder air filters in.

Meanwhile, the western half of the country will experience a completely different setup — with California, Texas, and the Southwest warming well above seasonal norms and drying out. For Connecticut, though, the next week remains cold, damp, and wintry, extending the season’s icy start.

Forecasters hint that a brief warm-up may arrive closer to the holidays, but for now, residents can expect another week of frosty mornings and occasional flakes.
