Nashville, TN – A wintry mix is expected to move into northwestern Middle Tennessee late Monday, creating slippery roads and hazardous travel conditions through early Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday for Stewart, Montgomery, Robertson, Houston, Humphreys, Dickson, and Cheatham counties. The advisory includes cities such as Clarksville, Springfield, Dover, Waverly, Erin, Dickson, Ashland City, and Kingston Springs.

Forecasters say the system will bring a combination of light freezing rain, sleet, and wet snow, with minor ice accumulations possible on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads. Even small amounts of ice can create slick travel conditions, especially during the early morning commute.

According to the NWS, temperatures will hover near freezing overnight, allowing patches of ice to form as precipitation spreads across the region. Drivers should be prepared for reduced traction and potentially hazardous travel before sunrise Tuesday.

Road conditions may gradually improve after mid-morning as temperatures climb, but early morning travel impacts are likely across highways including I-24, Highway 79, Highway 41, and several county routes.

Officials urge motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and use caution if travel is necessary. Residents are encouraged to check Tennessee 511 for updated road conditions.

This marks one of the earliest wintry events of the season for parts of Middle Tennessee, and forecasters recommend monitoring updates as temperatures fluctuate overnight.
