Manchester, NH – New Hampshire will open December with a blast of winter as an Arctic Blast surges into New England from Monday, Dec. 1 through Friday, Dec. 5, delivering a firm shift toward a Cold December pattern. Expect colder-than-normal temperatures, brisk winds, and periodic snow chances to kick off the month.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday brings a 30 percent chance of rain with mostly cloudy conditions and highs near 40°F before colder air begins pushing in from the northwest. By Monday night, rain may mix with or change to snow, and temperatures are forecast to fall to around 22°F, marking the first significant cold plunge of the season.
Snow chances continue into Tuesday, with the NWS reporting a 40 percent chance of snow and a high near 34°F. Light accumulations are possible, though impacts are expected to remain minor. However, forecasters warn that temperatures hovering near freezing may create slick spots during the early-morning commute.
NOAA’s 6–10 Day Temperature Outlook supports this colder pattern, placing New Hampshire firmly in the below-normal temperature category for Dec. 1–5. The arrival of this Arctic air is expected to maintain a consistent chill through the week, keeping conditions wintry even outside periods of snow.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts as the early-week rain-to-snow transition and dropping temperatures could affect travel statewide.
