Paducah, KY – Dense fog and periods of rain are expected to start the week across western Kentucky, with colder, drier air moving in just in time for Thanksgiving, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah.

Meteorologists warn that dense fog could reduce visibility Monday morning before a steady rain develops by afternoon. Showers are likely to continue into Tuesday morning, with rainfall totals between 0.25 and 0.5 inches expected across much of the region.

After the rain clears, a strong cold front will usher in cooler, breezier weather midweek. Highs will drop into the 40s by Wednesday, with Thanksgiving Day temperatures ranging from the low 40s to near 50° under mostly clear skies.

“More dense fog is possible Monday morning, followed by a period of rain Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning,” the NWS said Sunday. “Colder and drier air returns for Thanksgiving, with additional rain chances holding off until the weekend.”

Travelers heading out early in the week should plan for foggy conditions and wet roads, while those celebrating the holiday can expect brisk but sunny weather.
