MINNEAPOLIS — Polaris is recalling about 14,885 MATRYX RMK KHAOS and PRO snowmobiles sold in the U.S. due to a potential fire hazard.

The company says the brake system can overheat in the caliper/pad/brake rotor area if the rider engages the throttle and brake simultaneously, including the parking brake. This could lead to burn injuries and pose a fire risk.

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact Polaris or an authorized dealer for a free repair, including a check of the snowmobile’s braking system and software update.

An additional 4,555 snowmobiles were sold in Canada.

Contact Polaris at https://www.polaris.com or (800) 765-2747 for more information.
