Lincoln, IL – Temperatures across Central Illinois will remain seasonably normal through the rest of the weekend before gradually warming later in the week. While conditions stay mostly dry today and Monday, multiple rounds of rain are expected beginning Monday night and again midweek.
According to the National Weather Service Central Illinois, today will feature plenty of sunshine with highs ranging from 50 to 56 degrees. Tonight brings partly cloudy skies and a colder stretch with lows dipping to 26–33 degrees, setting up a chilly Monday morning.
Monday itself will be partly sunny and slightly warmer, with highs rising into the 51–58 degree range. Rain chances increase significantly by Monday night, with a 70% likelihood of showers as lows settle into the upper 30s to mid-40s.
Tuesday will bring the first measurable rainfall of the week, with a 40% chance of rain during the day and highs climbing to 53–64 degrees. The mild trend continues through Tuesday night with lingering showers and lows between 39 and 50 degrees.
Wednesday will be the warmest day so far, with highs reaching 56–65 degrees under partly sunny skies. A second system moves in Wednesday night, bringing another 40% chance of showers.
Thursday appears to be the wettest day of the week with an 80% chance of widespread rain. Highs will climb into the 59–65 degree range, extending the late-week warm-up. Showers likely continue into Thursday night, with lows between 34 and 42 degrees.
Forecasters say the region should expect fluctuating but generally mild temperatures heading into the next weekend, with additional rain chances possible depending on storm-track shifts.
