STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Thick fog has settled across the ridges and valleys of central Pennsylvania this morning, dimming headlights and softening every sound along I-80. The dense mist, hanging low over farm fields and wooded hollows, could make the morning commute tricky until midmorning. Drivers should slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra space in traffic as visibility drops below a quarter-mile.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. for the northern mountains and central valleys. Conditions should gradually improve by midday, giving way to mild, damp air ahead of a sharp cool-down tonight. Showers will spread east through Monday, followed by a colder northwest wind that may flip rain to light snow by evening.

This early-November pattern marks the region’s transition toward winter. Brief bursts of snow could reach as far south as Lock Haven, Clearfield, and Williamsport late Monday into Tuesday morning, though accumulations are expected to stay light. Temperatures will fall into the 20s by Tuesday night—cold enough for patchy frost and icy bridges in higher elevations.

Veterans Day looks brisk and mostly cloudy, with highs in the upper 30s and a biting northwest breeze. The midweek period trends drier but remains chilly, ideal for early holiday prep or yard cleanup before another system approaches next weekend.
