Binghamton, NY – A wet and chilly start to the week is expected across central New York and northeast Pennsylvania, with rain showers gradually changing to snow by Monday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.
Forecasters say scattered rain showers will persist through Sunday before transitioning to a rain-snow mix early Monday. By late Monday afternoon, most areas will see all snow, with up to one inch of accumulation possible by the end of the day, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces.
Communities including Ithaca, Binghamton, and Elmira can expect the first measurable flakes of the season as colder air filters into the region. Temperatures will hover in the mid-30s to low 40s Monday, dropping below freezing Monday night.
Travel impacts are expected to remain minor, but slick spots may develop on untreated roads and bridges Monday evening.
