Denver, CO – A blustery and cooler Saturday is in store for much of Colorado as strong north winds sweep across the plains following last night’s cold front, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver/Boulder.
Forecasters say wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected across the eastern plains and Front Range foothills throughout the day, creating areas of blowing dust and difficult travel for high-profile vehicles. Conditions will gradually improve by this evening as winds ease.
Meanwhile, light snow showers in the mountains are expected to taper off by mid-morning, leaving behind colder air statewide. High temperatures will only reach the 40s in the mountains and 50s across the I-25 corridor, including Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs.
“Cooler temperatures and strong north winds up to 50 mph will impact the plains today,” the NWS said. Drivers are advised to secure loose outdoor items and use caution on open roadways, particularly along I-70, I-76, and Highway 85.
Sunday will bring calmer winds with a gradual warming trend early next week.
