New York, NY – The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Frost Advisory for parts of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York, in effect from midnight tonight through 7 a.m. Friday.

According to the NWS, temperatures will fall to around 33 degrees, leading to frost formation in outlying suburbs and coastal communities. Areas included in the advisory are Southern Fairfield, Southern New Haven, Southern Middlesex, and Southern New London Counties in Connecticut; Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, and Eastern Union Counties in New Jersey; and Southern Westchester and eastern sections of Long Island in New York.

A Wind Advisory previously in effect has been cancelled, as calmer overnight conditions are expected to allow frost to develop. The agency cautions that unprotected outdoor vegetation may be damaged or killed if not covered.

Residents are urged to bring in or cover tender plants, especially those in low-lying or inland areas where colder pockets are likely to form. Temperatures are forecast to rebound into the 50s after sunrise Friday.
