RALEIGH, NC – Golden leaves glint under calm skies this Tuesday morning as the Triangle wakes to a crisp 46°F and a stillness that won’t last long. Warm, comfortable air will dominate early today, but a sharper, more classic fall pattern is poised to take over by Thursday as cooler winds build across central North Carolina.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, Tuesday stays bright and breezy, with highs climbing toward the mid-70s. Gusts may reach 20 mph through the afternoon, stirring up dust along U.S. 64 and I-40. While skies remain mostly clear, a gradual temperature drop begins late Tuesday into Wednesday as a dry front slides across the Piedmont.

Wednesday’s highs settle in the lower 70s, but the feel changes noticeably—air turns less humid and more brisk, hinting at early-season chill. By Thursday morning, lows near 44°F will greet much of Wake County, with nearby rural pockets possibly dipping into the upper 30s. That’s just shy of frost territory, signaling an early First Fall Freeze could follow if clear, calm nights persist into the weekend.

Residents should start light seasonal prep—bring in delicate porch plants, clean gutters, and check outdoor lighting before nights get longer.

Looking to the weekend, sunshine holds with daytime highs near 67°F and comfortably cool evenings perfect for outdoor festivals, football, and early Halloween decorating. Models hint that another stronger cold push may arrive early next week, potentially dropping some inland lows into the mid-30s—a clear reminder that winter’s first touch is inching closer.

Five-Day Forecast for Raleigh, NC:
Tue: 76/53 – Sunny and mild; gusty southwest breeze.

Thu: 70/44 – Clear, crisp morning; calm and cool.
