Hot Spring County, AR – The National Weather Service in Little Rock has confirmed that a brief EF-1 tornado touched down in Hot Spring County on Saturday, October 18, producing winds up to 105 miles per hour and leaving behind mainly tree damage northeast of DeGray Lake.

According to the NWS preliminary damage survey, the tornado developed around 3:50 p.m. CDT, with a path length of 0.8 miles and a maximum width of about 100 yards. Survey teams found several downed and snapped trees in the affected area, but no structures were destroyed, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Meteorologists say the tornado was spawned by a fast-moving storm system that passed through central Arkansas late Saturday afternoon, bringing scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds to the region.

Residents are encouraged to review their severe weather safety plans as fall tornado season continues across the Mid-South, where brief spin-up tornadoes can occur with cold front activity.
