Kendall County, IL – A Joliet man who allegedly fled from the Kendall County Courthouse last month has been apprehended by U.S. Marshals, officials confirmed Wednesday.
According to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Rayvon Johnson, 32, of Joliet, was taken into custody in Justice, Illinois, by members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.
In September, deputies attempted to take Johnson into custody on a warrant for domestic battery at the Kendall County Courthouse. Authorities said Johnson allegedly pushed past a deputy and ran from the building, prompting an immediate search.
The Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office later approved additional charges for aggravated resisting a peace officer, a Class 4 felony. A warrant for Johnson’s arrest was subsequently issued.
After weeks of investigation, members of the U.S. Marshals and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office located Johnson and arrested him without incident earlier today. He has been transported to the Kendall County Jail and remains in custody pending a pretrial conditions hearing.
The Sheriff’s Office urged residents with information on fugitives to contact Crime Stoppers, noting that tips can remain anonymous and may qualify for rewards.
The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
