BLACKSBURG, Va. – Fall weather doesn’t get much better than this. Southwest Virginia will see a flawless run of sunshine and cool, comfortable air through the rest of the week, perfect for campus events, hiking, and leaf viewing along the Blue Ridge.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Tuesday brings another bright and dry day with highs near 73°F and light west winds. Clear skies and calm conditions will keep nights crisp, dipping into the upper 40s. The clear, dry air will continue to dominate midweek as high pressure settles firmly over the New River Valley.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature abundant sunshine, highs in the low 70s, and overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s — a classic mid-October setup. Winds remain light, making for excellent visibility along I-81 and Route 460.

By Friday, a slight cooldown will bring highs near 69°F before warming resumes Saturday, when temperatures rise back into the upper 70s. It’s an ideal stretch for outdoor recreation, from the Huckleberry Trail to Virginia Tech’s Homecoming events, with low humidity and bright skies all week.

Rain chances remain slim until Sunday, when a weak front may bring a few scattered showers. Until then, Blacksburg enjoys the kind of dry, crisp, colorful weather that defines Fall in the mountains.

Tue: 73/47 – Sunny and mild; light breeze.
