Baltimore, MD – Clouds will increase across Maryland today as showers move in from the northwest, bringing a damp evening commute and signaling a major weather shift across the region.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, rain is expected to overspread the area late Tuesday afternoon into the night, with a strong cold front pushing through on Wednesday morning. The front will bring a noticeable drop in temperatures—falling from highs near 75°F on Tuesday to the mid-60s by Wednesday afternoon.

By Thursday morning, much of western and northern Maryland could see frost in higher elevations, while sunny and crisp conditions settle in statewide. Highs through the end of the week are forecast to stay in the 50s and low 60s, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s and even upper 30s in some areas.

Forecasters are also monitoring a potential coastal system this weekend that could bring showers east of I-95 and toward the Virginia Capes. Rain chances remain around 15–30%, depending on the storm’s track.

Residents are advised to prepare for cooler mornings, especially in rural and mountain areas, and to secure outdoor plants sensitive to frost later this week.
