Tucson, Ariz. – A Flood Watch remains in effect across Tucson and southern Arizona through Saturday as monsoon storms threaten to bring heavy rain and localized flooding. Roads, washes and low-lying areas could quickly become hazardous, especially during peak travel times.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday afternoon and evening, with storms lingering into Saturday. Some storms may produce intense downpours, raising the risk of flash flooding in flood-prone areas. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph during stronger cells.

Friday night carries a 50 percent chance of storms, with additional rounds of showers possible Saturday afternoon. The heaviest rainfall could impact Pima County, including metro Tucson, where road closures may occur. Emergency officials urge drivers to avoid flooded roadways and seek alternate routes if water is covering the pavement.

Conditions improve by late Saturday night, with sunny skies and dry weather returning Sunday into early next week.

Flood Watch advisories remain active through Saturday evening, with additional updates possible as storms redevelop.
