Louisville, KY – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through the southeastern Ohio Valley Wednesday into Thursday, bringing the potential for flash flooding and travel disruptions.
According to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, most areas across Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia can expect 1–2 inches of rain, with locally higher totals of 2–3 inches possible. The heaviest rainfall is forecast along and south of the Ohio River.
While larger rivers are not expected to experience flooding, forecasters warn that smaller streams and low-lying areas could see quick rises and localized flash flooding. Motorists are advised to use caution, as heavy downpours may create hazardous driving conditions, particularly in rural and hilly regions.
The rain is expected to taper off by Thursday evening, with drier weather likely returning for the weekend across the Ohio Valley.
Residents are urged to monitor local forecasts and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions, especially in flood-prone areas.
