Mount Sterling, WI – A weak tornado was confirmed in Crawford County on Monday afternoon, bringing brief but measurable damage to the Mount Sterling area.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, an EF-0 tornado touched down in Mount Sterling on September 22, 2025, between 4:04 and 4:07 p.m. CDT. The storm packed maximum winds of 75 mph and carved a half-mile path, with a width estimated at 40 yards.
Officials reported minor damage to corn, an outbuilding, a silo, and several homes, mainly involving roof shingles. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
The tornado, while brief, is part of ongoing late-September storm activity across Wisconsin. EF-0 tornadoes are the weakest on the Enhanced Fujita scale but can still produce damage to structures, crops, and trees.
Meteorologists will continue to monitor weather patterns in the region this week, though no additional tornado activity is currently forecast.
