A 2017 Volvo truck tractor with trailer, driven by a 37-year-old man from Lackawanna, New York, was traveling east on Highway 2 when a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee entered the eastbound lanes from Highway 1. The vehicles collided, forcing both into the south ditch.
Authorities said the Jeep driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. The Volvo driver was not injured.
The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakota Ambulance, and Lakota Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene. Road and weather conditions were reported as good at the time of the crash.
