Dover, FL – Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office narrowly avoided injury Saturday night after a driver allegedly swerved toward them during a warrant attempt in Dover. The incident happened September 13, 2025, at 9:58 p.m.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Marco Reyes-Diaz, fled the scene before deputies boxed him in at a gas station on 15634 East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Deputies said a search of the vehicle uncovered two firearms, fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, cash, and hundreds of plastic bags. Reyes-Diaz now faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and armed trafficking in fentanyl.
Authorities noted the deputies were standing near the roadway at the time of the incident and could have been seriously injured had the suspect’s vehicle struck them.
The investigation remains ongoing.
