Harris County, TX – Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office say a major auto theft recovery operation this week led to the discovery of a suspected chop shop and the return of nearly half a million dollars in stolen vehicles.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, District 2 Patrol deputies tracked a stolen vehicle to a vacant lot in east Harris County, where investigators allege stolen vehicles were being dismantled. With assistance from Auto Theft Detectives and a search warrant, deputies recovered eight GM trucks, a Ford Raptor, and a Corvette.

Officials said the recovered vehicles are valued at approximately $550,000. They were found in various stages of being stripped for parts. Authorities credited strong teamwork between deputies and detectives for the recovery.

“The case remains under active investigation,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, adding that no further details on arrests or suspects have been released.

Residents in Harris County and surrounding areas are being reminded to remain vigilant about vehicle theft and to report suspicious activity.
