Louisville, Ky. – Heat more typical of July than September is gripping Kentucky this weekend, with afternoon highs pushing toward 90 degrees and little relief in sight.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, the region will remain mostly dry through Tuesday, aside from a chance of isolated showers overnight Saturday. Any rainfall will be brief and light, with totals under a tenth of an inch, not nearly enough to ease ongoing drought conditions across central Kentucky.

Daytime highs will stay between 87 and 92 degrees through Tuesday, while humidity will make it feel even warmer during the afternoon. The hottest stretch is expected Monday and Tuesday, when readings could top out near 92. Officials say the heat combined with dry soils will prolong drought stress on crops, lawns, and waterways.

Residents should limit outdoor activity during peak heating hours, stay hydrated, and be cautious with outdoor burning as fire risk increases. Drivers are also advised to remain alert, as patchy smoke from small brush fires could reduce visibility in rural areas.

The hot, dry pattern is expected to continue into midweek, with only minimal rain chances on the horizon.

Five Day Forecast for Louisville, Kentucky

  • Saturday: Partly cloudy, 85–90°
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, 85–91°
  • Monday: Hot, mostly sunny, 87–92°
  • Tuesday: Hot, partly cloudy, 87–92°
  • Wednesday: Sunny and warm, highs near 90°
