Green Bay, Wis. – Hazardous conditions along Lake Michigan and inland fog will complicate travel and recreation across northeast Wisconsin through Wednesday morning. Swimmers should avoid Lake Michigan beaches this evening as dangerous rip currents develop, while drivers face dense fog late tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect Tuesday afternoon and evening, covering shoreline communities from Door County south into Manitowoc. Locally dense fog is expected to spread across north-central Wisconsin late Tuesday night into early Wednesday, reducing visibility on key roadways, including stretches of Interstate 43.
Thunderstorm chances remain low tonight, with isolated activity mainly north and west of the Fox Valley. However, residents should prepare for another round of storms later this week. Forecasters note the best chance arrives Friday night into Saturday, bringing lightning, brief downpours, and gusty winds.
Temperatures stay seasonable, with highs in the mid-70s Wednesday and Thursday under partly to mostly sunny skies. Friday warms to the lower 80s before clouds increase. By Saturday, scattered thunderstorms could disrupt outdoor plans, especially for areas near Green Bay and the Door Peninsula.
Officials urge residents to remain alert near Lake Michigan beaches, avoid unnecessary late-night travel in fog-prone areas, and monitor updates as storm chances rise.
Warnings may be updated later this week as conditions evolve.
