Raisinville Township, MI — A Lambertville man was arrested early Monday after allegedly attempting to ram a patrol vehicle during a chase in Monroe County.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 3 a.m. when dispatchers received a call about a vehicle chasing another and trying to force it off the road on Lewis Avenue near Ida West Road. Deputy Corey Jacobs located the suspect vehicle, a blue 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, and attempted a traffic stop.
Deputies said the driver failed to stop and fled southbound. At one point, the suspect allegedly performed a U-turn and tried to ram into Jacobs’ patrol vehicle before continuing down Lewis Avenue. The chase continued until the truck struck the patrol car again and came to rest near a fence on Ida West Road.
The driver, a 31-year-old man from Lambertville, was arrested without further incident. A 31-year-old woman and three children, ages 12, 6 and 4, were also inside the truck. Authorities said both adults appeared to be suffering from a mental health episode. The children were unharmed and transported by ambulance for evaluation before being turned over to Child Protective Services.
The suspect was lodged at the Monroe County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding and felonious assault on a police officer. His name has not been released pending arraignment in 1st District Court.
